T-Mobile Hacked – Hackers Accessed Customers Financial and Personal Information After Breach the Network

T-Mobile announced a data breach that impacts personal and financial information of T-Mobile customers.

The hack was through the email vendor of the T‑Mobile which leads to unauthorized access to certain T‑Mobile employee email accounts.

Those email accounts contain account information of both the T‑Mobile customers and employees. The hack was identified by their Cybersecurity team recently.

Once the breach was learned, the company launched a Forensic investigation, with the support from leading cybersecurity forensics experts, to determine the information affected.

Following are the information accessed, the details include “names and addresses, Social Security numbers, financial account information, and government identification numbers, as well as phone numbers, billing and account information, and rate plans and features.”

T-Mobile started notifying customers affected by the breach, following is the text “recently identified and shut down a security event involving some of your account information” the text also contains a link for more info.

The company also said that they are offering free credit monitoring and identity theft detection services, provided by TransUnion.

“We regret that this incident occurred. We take the security of customer information very seriously and while we have several safeguards in place to protect customer information from unauthorized access, we are also always working to further enhance security so we can stay ahead of this type of activity.”

Users are recommended to change the passwords for t-mobile.com, if using the same password with other sites it is recommended to reset the login details.

Last year T-Mobile Anoununced a data breach on its network, through which attackers gained access to prepaid customer’s data.
