Select Health Network Hacked – Unknown Number of Users Personal Information & Medical Data Leaked

Select Health Network announced a security incident that impacts the personal and medical information of current or former members of these plans or healthcare providers. Select Health Network provides various health plans and other services to health providers.

The company spotted an unusual activity associated with one of the employee networks and they launched a forensic investigation to determine the nature of the activity.

According to the report, an unknown threat actor accessed the employee Email account between May 22, 2019, to June 13, 2019. “The investigation was unable to determine with forensic certainty what emails or attachments, if any, were accessed by the unauthorized actor.”

Further, the healthcare company performs a comprehensive review of the informed stored in the email account at the time of the incident. Based on the report obtained Select Heath Network started notifying business partners and certain individuals about this incident.

Information Possibly Accessed

Following are the information possibly accessed by the attacker that includes Name, Address, Date of Birth, Member ID Number, Treating/Referring Physician, Health Insurance Information, Medical History Information, Treatment Information, Treatment Cost Information, Health Insurance Policy Number, and Medical Record Number.

For some of the user account’s social security numbers are also impacted, the company confirms that there is no misuse of the information or any attacks attempted.

Select Health Network not provided any details about the business partners impacted, if you are an impacted used then you will be getting notifications.
