Hackers Steal $326 Million From Wormhole Cross-chain Crypto Platform

An Estimated of 120,000 Ethereum (ETH) worth of $326 million was stolen by hackers from DeFi Bridge. DeFi Bridge is the route between Decentralised Finance and Traditional Finance. The Wormhole Portal acts as a DeFi between Solana Blockchain Platform and Other Blockchains. This is reported as the fourth largest crypto theft and the second largest from a DeFi Service.

Hackers exploited the DeFi Bridge and mined around 120,000 ETH from Solana whereas 93,750 of them were sent to the Ethereum blockchain. This exploit was investigated and found to be due to the nonvalidation of Wormhole’s “guardian” accounts.

In an attempt, Wormhole embedded a message inside an Ethereum transaction that said a bounty of $10 million to the attacker.

The hacker still leverages 93,750 Ethereum coins. After the attempt from Wormhole, many people started to send on-chain messages to the hacker like “hackerplsdonate.eth”. One individual sent a message saying “

This includes a total of $2 billion losses through DeFi services in hacks. Still, now the PolyNetwork stands as the largest loss ever with an estimated $611 million dollars.
