Darktrace to Acquire Cado Security to Enhance Cloud Forensic Capabilities

Darktrace, a global leader in AI cybersecurity, has announced plans to acquire Cado Security, a UK-based cyber investigation and response solution provider.

The acquisition, expected to be completed in February pending regulatory approval, aims to enhance Darktrace’s cloud forensic capabilities.

The integration will combine Cado’s forensic investigation technology with Darktrace’s ActiveAI Security Platform, enabling enhanced data collection across multiple cloud environments.

This merger will strengthen Darktrace’s Cyber AI Analyst capabilities, improving alert investigation and incident prioritization for cybersecurity teams.

Cado Security brings significant expertise through its founders:

James Campbell, CEO, previously served as a Director at PwC and led Australia’s National Incident Response capability as Assistant Director of Operations at the Australian Signals Directorate.

Chris Doman, CTO, is known for creating the ThreatCrowd threat intelligence portal, which was later integrated into AlienVault Open Threat Exchange and acquired by AT&T.

This acquisition represents Darktrace’s continued investment in cloud capabilities following their recent launches of Darktrace/CLOUD for AWS and Microsoft Azure.

The move addresses growing concerns in cloud security, as research indicates cloud and SaaS platforms are common entry points for cybercriminals.

Cado’s research and development teams in London and Bristol will collaborate with Darktrace’s established R&D centers in Cambridge, UK, and The Hague, Netherlands. This integration aims to drive innovation in Cloud Detection and Response capabilities.
