TACOMA, Wash. — Cybersecurity architect and author Shiva Kumara launched the new book Non-Human Identity Security in Telecom and Autonomous Ecosystems at the ISSA Rainier Chapter event on April 30, 2026 Tacoma, Washington.
Co-authored with cybersecurity executive Guruprasad Venkatesha, the book focuses on the expanding security challenge created by digital identities that operate without direct human control.
Non-human identities include AI agents, application programming interfaces, cloud workloads, service accounts, cryptographic certificates, Internet of Things devices, industrial systems, connected vehicles, and machine-to-machine communications.
As organizations automate more business and infrastructure functions, these identities increasingly initiate transactions, access sensitive systems, exchange data, and make operational decisions at machine speed.
The book connects this emerging identity problem to telecommunications and future critical infrastructure.
It examines how identity architecture, governance, and Zero Trust principles can be applied across 5G and emerging 6G networks, AI-driven services, cloud platforms, autonomous technologies, connected transportation, and distributed digital ecosystems.

Shiva Kumara specializes in telecommunications security, Zero Trust architecture, passwordless authentication, identity governance, and non-human identity security.
Drawing on more than two decades of experience designing and securing large-scale telecommunications and digital infrastructure platforms, he said the growth of autonomous and AI-enabled systems requires organizations to rethink how digital trust is established and maintained.
“As 5G networks expand and the industry prepares for AI-native 6G architectures, identity becomes the foundation of trust,”Shiva Kumara said.

Rather than treating non-human identities as a narrow extension of workforce identity and access management, the book presents them as a distinct security and governance domain.
It addresses the need to establish accountability for machine activity, apply appropriate trust controls, and manage identities consistently across enterprise, cloud, telecommunications, industrial, and autonomous environments.
Guruprasad Venkatesha said the shift from human-operated systems to machine-driven ecosystems is changing the scale and nature of identity risk.
“Security has historically focused on protecting human users,” he said.
“Today, machine identities significantly outnumber human identities across cloud environments, telecommunications platforms, AI systems, and autonomous ecosystems.
Organizations need new security models capable of establishing trust, accountability, and governance for these digital entities.”
The launch brought together cybersecurity professionals, telecommunications leaders, technology architects, authors, and industry practitioners.
The discussion centered on how organizations can prepare for an environment in which AI agents, software services, devices, and autonomous systems increasingly act as independent participants in digital business and critical infrastructure.
For Shiva Kumara, the central issue is not simply how many machine identities an organization operates, but whether those identities can be discovered, governed, authenticated, authorized, monitored, and held accountable throughout their lifecycle.
