Bugcrowd Paid $500,000 Bug Bounty Reward to Ethical Hackers Within a Week

Bugcrowd announced about the new milestone that it rewarded $500,000 in Bug Bounties within a week to whitehat hackers for ethically reporting bugs in different vendors.

Bugcrowd is a platform for enterprise organizations to manage bug bounty, vulnerability disclosure, and next-gen pen test programs to builds a bridge between trusted ethical hackers and organizations that help to secure their network and applications.

In October month, Bugcrowd paid out $1.6 million to over 550 hackers. The highest amount of $40,000 paid to single hackers.

The Crowd also surfaced more than 300 P1s! Looking back to October 2014, we paid out nearly $30,000 to 85 hackers and uncovered five P1s. In a matter of a five-year span, we’ve exponentially multiplied payouts, Crowd engagement, and critical findings, and to say we’re excited is an understatement. Bugcrowd said via a Blog post.

Growing the Vulnerability Report and Rewards

Compared to last year, in 2019, payouts are increased by more than 80%, and more organizations are signed up for the crowd and submitting their products report the vulnerabilities, Company says.

According to David Baker, CSO, VP of BugCrowd “As more organizations reach security maturity and trust in the value of the Crowd, we will continue to see more programs launch and pay out in higher sums. Great news for our researchers, both new and experienced on the platform.”

Bugcrowd also launched “BUGCROWD UNIVERSITY” in 2018 to enhance the security skill and provide training for the whitehat hacker community by offering different courses and frequent Webinars.

Bugcrowd University materials are freely available to all security community researchers, and this training will help to attract more researchers to the crowdsourced security platform.
