Authorities Blocked One of The World’s Largest Phishing Service

Recently, the international Cyber police team has reported another high-profile arrest on February 4 during an international specialized operation along with law enforcement officers of the United States, Ukraine, and Australia.

According to the analysis, a hacker from the Ternopil area has developed a phishing package and a specific administrative panel for it, and it is aimed at the web resources of banks and their customers. 

What Happened?

The admin panel enables the hackers to control the accounts of every user who has registered on negotiated resources and open their payment data, and it was later received by the threat actors.  

All the financial institutions in Australia, Spain, the United States, the Netherlands, Italy, Chile, Mexico, Germany, France, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom have these phishing attacks. 

The threat actor was a 39-year-old resident of the Ternopil region who has developed a phishing package and a special administrative panel. The threat actor has created his own online store on the Darknet so that he can demonstrate the functionality and sell their developments. 

The officers of the Cyberpolice Department, along with the National Investigation Department, the Prosecutor General’s Office, have blocked oxygen for one of the world’s most comprehensive financial institutions.

After a proper investigation, the experts came to know that more than 50% of all phishing attacks in 2019 in Australia have been carried out.

Apart from this, the Law enforcement officers have conducted five authorized hunts in the Ternopil region in which they have seized many computer equipment & devices, mobile phones, and secure hard drives.

Not only this, but more than 200 active buyers of malicious software were also identified. As per the preliminary data, the threat actors not only sold their commodities to customers around the world but also implemented technical support throughout the phishing attacks. 

The hacker has developed phishing resources that have aimed at hacking e-mail services, which are utilized by more than 1.5 billion users, and he has also created their own online store in Darknet web forum to demonstrate and sell his developments.

Moreover, the Cyberpolice has detected and exposed the Ukrainian hackers who have used cyberattacks on European and US bank’s servers to steal about $2.5 billion.
