Ardent Health Ransomware Attack: Multiple Hospitals Affected

The information technology systems of Ardent Health Services were targeted in a recent ransomware attack which has resulted in a major cybersecurity incident.

As a result of this attack, the company has experienced significant disruption to its services and operations, causing inconvenience and potential harm to its clients and customers.

Ardent Health Ransomware Attack

Ardent Health Services has become a well-known name in the healthcare industry for its exceptional services in various communities across the United States. Its unwavering focus on consumer-friendly processes and investments in innovative services and technologies make it one of the leading providers of healthcare in the country.

On November 23, Ardent Health Services and its affiliated entities (Ardent) discovered a cybersecurity incident related to their information technology systems. After investigation, it was determined that the incident was a ransomware attack.

In response to an unexpected event, the Ardent technology team took swift action to safeguard data and restore functionality.

As a precaution, the network was taken offline, temporarily suspending all user access to information technology applications, including corporate servers, Epic software, the internet, and clinical programs. The team is working diligently to investigate the situation and restore services as soon as possible.

To ensure the safety and security of its information technology operations, the organization has taken proactive measures. It has reported to third-party forensic departments and implemented additional security protocols to its already-existing electronic protection procedures. These measures have been put in place to enable the organization to quickly recover its IT operations and capabilities in case of any unforeseen events, reads Ardent report.

Ardent owns and operates 30 hospitals and 200+ sites of care with more than 1,400 aligned providers in six states, from newly constructed healthcare facilities and expanded services to lifesaving technology and outstanding opportunities for team members.

They have not yet confirmed what type of data has been compromised. Due to the incident and the temporary disruption to certain aspects of Ardent’s clinical and financial operations, patient care continues to be delivered safely and effectively in its hospitals, emergency rooms, and clinics until the system is back online.

Access to additional clinical systems and electronic medical records is still being looked into and restored.
